Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is a prominent Hindu festival that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. Celebrated on the tenth day of the Hindu month of Ashvin, it marks the end of the nine-day Navratri festival. The festival is observed with great fervor and varies in tradition and mythology across different regions of India.Dussehra commemorates the day Lord Rama killed the ten-headed demon king, Ravana, to rescue his wife, Sita. The ten heads of Ravana symbolize ten negative human qualities: lust, anger, greed, ego, jealousy, selfishness, cruelty, injustice, pride, and attachment.
