A two-day CBSE Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Economics (Senior Secondary) was attended by Ms. Vandana Negi and Ms. Mamta Panwar on 6th and 7th June 2026 at GRD Academy, Niranjanpur, Dehradun.
The workshop focused on making Economics more relevant and meaningful for students by connecting economic concepts with real-life situations. The resource persons discussed various innovative teaching methodologies, including flipped learning, concept mapping, and other learner-centered strategies to enhance classroom engagement and understanding.
The programme also emphasized interdisciplinary learning in Economics and highlighted ways to integrate concepts from different subjects. Participants were introduced to lesson planning based on the NEP 2020 Panchpadi approach and learned how to design effective and competency-based lesson plans.
Sessions on the use of media and technology in teaching Economics provided practical insights into incorporating digital tools in the classroom. The workshop further covered the development of project work in Economics, preparation of question paper blueprints, and assessment and evaluation techniques aligned with CBSE guidelines.
Several hands-on activities were conducted throughout the workshop. A role-play activity on the topic “Demand and Supply” demonstrated the effectiveness of visual and experiential learning. Participants also engaged in a concept-mapping activity based on the Government Budget and delivered presentations on the topic “Monetary Policy of the Economy.”
The workshop was highly informative and interactive, providing valuable knowledge, practical teaching strategies, and innovative approaches for effective Economics teaching and learning. It enhanced the participants’ professional skills and equipped them with modern pedagogical practices that can be effectively implemented in the classroom. The programme was enriching and will help in improving classroom practices, student engagement, and learning outcomes in Economics.
